Meet your guide…
Katie Triest
Katie’s interest in birds sparked when her college roommate took an ornithology class and taught her the call of the Red-winged Blackbird. She has since found birds to be a great passion, seeking them out everywhere she goes, from Hawai’i to South Africa.
Katie began finding ways to incorporate birds into her professional life after college any way she could. She worked with the Wild Bird Fund in New York City as a licensed Wild Bird Rehabilitator where she nursed injured birds back to health to support their return to the wild. She then went on to fill the role of Director of Education with the organization, where she created a year-long bird study for classrooms throughout the city that focused on empowering kids to care for nature through experiential lessons on birds and the environment.
Katie moved to Telluride in 2009 and has been involved with bird programming at Telluride Academy, the Telluride Historical Museum and the Wilkinson Public Library.
Katie is excited to bring her experience and passion to each trip she takes with you!
